Cookie Policy

The short version

This site sets no cookies at all unless you choose to accept Google Analytics. If you say no, or simply ignore the banner, nothing is stored on your device and no analytics data is collected. Google’s script is still loaded by the page, so Google sees the request, but it is held in a state where it cannot record your visit. There are no advertising cookies, and we never track you across other websites.

Counting visits without cookies

Separately from the banner, our host Vercel counts page views for us. It does this without cookies and without storing anything on your device, so there is nothing to agree to and nothing to switch off. It cannot tell who you are or follow you to another website. Our privacy policy explains what it records.

If you accept analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people find useful, so we know what is worth improving. It sets cookies on your device and sends Google information about your visit, such as the pages you view, roughly where in the country you are, and what sort of device you use. We have IP anonymisation switched on.

We only ever see totals and trends, never anything that identifies you personally. Google is the data controller for the information it collects through Analytics; see Google’s privacy policy.

Nothing from Google is downloaded until you press Accept. Refusing means the script is never requested at all, rather than being loaded and told to behave.

Remembering your choice

We store your answer in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again on every page. That is a strictly necessary preference, so it does not need consent, and it is not a tracking cookie: it holds nothing but the word “granted” or “denied”.

You can change your mind whenever you like using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Choosing to refuse after previously accepting reloads the page so collection stops straight away. You can also clear cookies and site data through your browser settings.

Paying for Meals on Wheels

If you choose to pay online, you are taken to Stripe’s own secure checkout on their website. Stripe uses cookies there, which are necessary to process the payment safely and prevent fraud. That happens on Stripe’s pages under their privacy policy, not ours.
